Forest Protection Alliance
The National Forest Protection Alliance (NFPA) was launched in 1999 by grassroots activists from every region of the United States dedicated to ending commercial logging on National Forests and all federal public lands. "We believe that public lands should be managed to provide clean air and clean water, wilderness and wildlife habitat, and compatible recreation for the American public."
Dogwood Alliance is a growing network, comprised of 70 grassroots organizations in 17 states
and concerned citizens from across the nation. "Dogwood Alliance is committed to achieving three specific goals:
· Stop the construction of new or expanding wood-chipping facilities. · Pass strong forest protection policies in Southern states. · Reduce the demand for virgin wood fiber and encourage the use of recycled and tree free alternatives."
Defenders of Wildlife is dedicated to the protection of all native wild animals and plants in their natural communities. "We focus our programs on what scientists consider two of the most serious environmental threats to the planet: the accelerating rate of extinction of species and the associated loss of biological diversity, and habitat alteration and destruction."
